About the Institute

AIAS was founded in 1999 in Auckland, New Zealand, and is proud to be the only Ayurvedic Training Institute in Australasia offering recognized Ayurvedic qualifications both in New Zealand & Australia. The AIAS is an educational and promotional Institute that follows the traditional Vedic philosophy of life. In recent years, AIAS has been responding to an increased demand for quality training programs in New Zealand and Australia. Ultimately, this has led to AIAS becoming a

  • NZQA approved Private Tertiary education (PTE) in New Zealand
  • Registered Training Organization (R.T.O) delivering nationally recognized qualifications in Australia under the HLT41207 Health Training Package.

The Founder

Dr S. Ajit B.A.M.S PCAS Graduated as an Ayurvedic Charya from the Government of Indian Ayurvedic College Patiala Punjabi University.  He has worked selflessly as a Government Ayurvedic Medical Officer.  Dr Ajit is a Panchkarma specialist, clinician and has also worked as an Ayurvedic pharmacy inspector in order to uphold and promote the Ayurvedic science in its traditional state.

Dr Ajit is a leader in the field of Ayurveda outside of India, where he has campaigned tirelessly in an effort to create high standards in the learning of Ayurveda. In India Dr Ajit worked as an Ayurvedic panchkarma doctor, lecturer at different Ayurveda Colleges, and was also a permanent employee of the Government of India as an Ayurvedic Medical Officer (No. AY E11-pb-80/100).

Dr Ajit relocated to New Zealand in 1996 after serving nearly 20 years for the Government of India, in order to assist the natural process of Ayurveda establishing itself in the West. Since then he has developed a busy panchkarma Clinic in Auckland and created the most extensive Ayurvedic practitioners training format outside of India, (Currently 3 year’s full time).  He has presented regular workshops in New Zealand and Australia and has assisted countless patients in regaining their health and a new lease of life at the Shree Ayurvedic Rejuvenation Centre in Auckland. He is now director of the Planet Ayurveda group involved in:

  • Wellness and Spa Centre where Ayurvedic wellness packages consultants and Ayurvedic Panchkarma, Rejuvenation are offered under Dr. Ajit’s Guidance.
  • The Australasian Institute of Ayurvedic Studies (AIAS)
  • Ayurda Ayurvedic Skin and Hair care Range developed by Dr. Ajit and Rippan Sandhu
  • The Vaidya Ayurvedic Software system (Ayurvedic Clinical diagnosis software for the students and practitioners). 

Dr. Ajit is known for his passion towards Ayurveda and respected by his students for his in-depth logical Ayurvedic interpretation and his ability to correlate Ayurvedic Principles with Western Medicine.  In addition to all this Dr. Ajit is working hard to uphold the traditional Ayurvedic Science in its original form and working towards creating high standards of education and practice of Ayurveda in the western world. He is the founding patron of Australasian Ayurvedic Practitioners Association (Australia & New Zealand) and the President of the International Council of Ayurvedic Medicine. (The body outside India for creating uniform standards of Ayurveda in the West)
