Admission and Registration

We recognise that people come to the A.I.A.S for many different reasons. Some study Ayurveda to use in their own professional practice and some for self-healing. Likewise, people come with many different backgrounds. Some are health care professionals, others are beginning their professional career and others have no health care background at all.

AIAS comprehensive courses have been specially designed to enhance the existing knowledge of professionals in both general medical and natural healthcare as well as for the layperson.

The A.I.A.S courses are specially designed for the practitioners of different modalities who want to enhance their skills by incorporating the Ayurvedic principles into their practice. Since they have busy practices and cannot commit to full time study the A.I.A.S is able to provide a distance learning course as well as a face to face classroom teaching every 8 weeks in the respective areas (New Zealand and Australia). A comprehensive program of study has been developed which meets international and nationally endorsed standards. Timetables and detailed programs will be provided to you upon enrolment.

Students may elect to change courses after enrolment, or defer their studies upon negotiation with the Principal. In most cases, no administrative costs apply to these changes given that some Units of Competency are held in common between the Diploma and Certificate courses. It is highly advisable to obtain advice from staff regarding a new study plan before applying for a change of course or a deferral.

Student intake:
Course intakes are scheduled in two semesters and registrations are taken in February and July. An enrolment form is given with your prospectus. You should send this to the Head Office in New Zealand

Entry requirements:
Although there are no formal prerequisites for the first year program, some prior knowledge or study of Ayurveda will greatly enhance the understanding and comprehension of the programme material. Preference will be given to those dedicated and sincere in learning Ayurvedic science.

Qualifications & International Requirements
AIAS courses are open to all students world wide with Face-To-Face Training being offered in both Australia and New Zealand. For all local and international students of the Face-to-Face Training courses the units set in your respective countries will provide the guidelines for qualification. While those training through distance learning will be following the guidelines set in New Zealand. New Zealand and Australian students please read the information related to your country as laid out in the prospectus.

Pre-requisites and co-requisites for the courses:
These are as set in the Qualifications Framework and under the Units of Competency. Some sections of the course are designed to be pre-requisite or co-requisite and you should follow the guidance of the administration in this regard.

Fees and conditions of payment:
Should AIAS cancel any course before implementation, participants are entitled to a full refund or transfer of funds to a future course.

Prospective students are required to pay a registration fee when they submit their application fee in order to hold a place in the next scheduled intake for the course of their preference. This deposit is able to be credited towards the program tuition. If, for any reason, the applicant cannot be accepted, the fee will be refunded in full.

Tuition payments for any course or program are due and payable before the commencement of the program.

All monies received are placed in a separate trust account and are not accessed until the course commences. A relevant proportion of the fees paid will remain in that account until the course is completed, to ensure pro-rata refunds are available for any eligible students.

A fourteen (14) day stand down period shall apply for all enrolments, unless the student commences attendance classes or distance education studies (as verified by the submission of coursework or assessments) within that period. A student who does so is deemed to have made a firm contract to undertake training with AIAS and any withdrawal from classes or training shall operate as detailed in item (9) below.

In the case of a distance education student, this stand down period is counted from the day they get their first pack of modules.

Students requiring a full refund must return all modules and documentation (in good order, with the original receipt), within the fourteen (14) day stand down period. No refund can be made on any distance education study module or workbook which has been partially completed by a student.

Students who wish to withdraw from the course after 14 days, due to unavoidable circumstances are able to request deferment of their studies to a later date. In these circumstances, their fees, or unused portion of their fees will be held in the separate trust account until such time as the deferred studies recommences.

There will be no refund given after the fourteen (14) stand down period. AIAS may, at its discretion, apply an administrative charge for processing applications for refunds and deferments and the application of such charges will be made known to the students at enrolment.

All disputes on refunds shall be addressed by application of AIAS-STU-010 Grievances and Appeal Policy and Procedures and shall be referred to Consumer Affairs arbitration if not able to be satisfactorily resolved by negotiation between the student and the Institute.

Students with special learning needs:
If you have any special learning difficulties or needs, please alert us to these as we can make arrangements to provide you with support. You may elect to complete a special self-test to highlight areas of difficulties with language, comprehension or numeracy which will help us decide how best we may assist you with your learning.

Never be too embarrassed to discuss your special learning needs with a member of staff.

We are committed to help you achieve your goals. If you need special assistance to get there, we have staff members who are qualified to help you.
