Practical Training for Ayurvedic Practitioner

This Independent training is available to such students who have study Ayurveda before but lack of practical understanding and experience. The fees for this component are $3500 (Fees is not applicable to AIAS lifestyle consultant students) excluding the cost of food and accommodation. 

AIAS offers a 15 day very comprehensive training for Ayurvedic students. This is one of the most popular and important programs of AIAS among those who already have learnt Ayurveda from other schools or through other channels but feel lack of confidence and practical experience in many vital components for the practice in this field.

This program is offered by AIAS once in a year. The program includes following main subjects, and along with these subjects one can enjoy discussion sessions (Question- Answer sessions) with Dr. Ajit, everyday during the program.


Ayurvedic Therapeutic Marma Massage: Even though majority of Ayurvedic students or practitioners feel that they know Ayurvedic Massage but the way AIAS teach this massage, it will give you the ability to understand that where do we need to improve. This training will give the knowledge to select specific strokes for each body type. Some of the commonly asked questions are as follows:

  • How to structure sequence of strokes in one cycle to get the energy how more smooth.
  • How to identify marma’s.
  • What happen if we work on wrong pulse and marma’s.
  • Why to use only thumb to work on marma’s.

TITLE DESCRIPTION
Ayurvedic Musculo-Skeletal treatment This provides the ethics and principles of providing Ayurvedic remedial musculoskeletal treatments for a range of common disorders and dysfunctions. Students will be given Practical work related with the subjects covered in 15 days training.
Kati Basti A special technique called Kati Basti is described and used in all musculo skeletal disorders. Instructions will be given at the training period to continue this work till final exams.
Shirodhara This provides the necessary knowledge and skills to apply this ancient treatment for mental stress, to balance the charkas and treat depression and emotional disorders with extensive practical training.
Ayurvedic Massage How to identify appropriate Marma points & stroke to promote the balance of Vata, pitta & Kapha. This compulsory 15 day practicum will cover important subjects of a practical nature and will include: Shirodhara therapy, Ayurvedic massage, Katti Basti procedure, Pulse diagnosis, Ayurvedic Cooking, Ayurvedic Counselling and Urine diagnosis. All practical subjects are taught in a way that each student will get the opportunity to give and receive treatment thus enabling them to develop their confidence and skills in a well rounded manner under the supervision of an Ayurvedic Doctor.
Ayurvedic Materia Medica I Provide understanding on Ayurvedic Herbology, the importance of 20 Gunas & the role of kitchen herbs in maintaining our wellbeing as well as their use in various imbalances.
Ayurvedic Materia Medica II Provide more understanding on herbs, their anupana, preparation & usage in different conditions.
Ayurvedic Materia Medica III Detailed study of Tailam (medicated oil) & Ghritam (medicated ghee) & their preparation and selection for different conditions. Practical will be taken if time permits.
Ayurvedic Clinical Nutrition I Provide students with the knowledge & skills to prepare Ayurvedic Sattvic meals, recipes for different seasons & the significance of Ayurvedic cooking in Ayurvedic psychology, yoga and medidation sciences.
Ayurvedic Clinical Nutrition II Selection of foods, recipes for children, during pregnancy & for the elderly; recipes to nourish the sapta dhatu (7 tissues) & recipes for different ailments.
Ayurvedic Psychology & Spirituality I Knowledge of non-physical aspects of Ayus (life) that plays a critical role in physical & mental health and enhances our consciousness.
Ayurvedic Psychology & Spirituality II Knowledge of three gunas, the Antahkarana (mind, ego, intellect & consciousness) & aahara, vihara & achara (life supporting diet, lifestyle & conduct).
Ayurvedic Psychology & Spirituality II Stresses the psychology development of the Ayurvedic lifestyle consultant. This period will include un-supervised clinical work wherein students will be required to continue with the therapies that they learnt in their practicum and complete a number of case studies for each therapy at their own location.
Ayurvedic Clinical Diagnosis Knowledge of Ayurvedic clinical assessment, diagnostic, techniques & skills required for client evaluation & prognosis.
Ayurvedic Clinical Pathology Knowledge of various common disorders relating to various channels according to Ayurvedic pathogensis & the management of these disorders, utilizing principles of Ayurvedic Ahara, Vihara & Aushadi.
Pulse Diagnosis Examination of Prakriti & Vikriti through Pulse assessment & integrating qualities of the pulse with signs & symptoms in case history taking. Students at this stage, are encouraged to create student study groups and maintain contact with their teacher via email.
Clinical Training Knowledge & Skills to assess cases.
Panchkarma, Rejuvenation & Revitalising Science This module will provide a very basic but clear understanding of the theory and objective behind Panchkarma Therapy (Ayurveda famed science of physiological detoxification & purification) at a level appropriate to the ALC course. There will not be any practical involved for this.  Students will have more practical involvement with panchkarma treatments. Students will also understand about Ayurvedic Rasyana therapies. This module will require no assignment.
